Selena
She was a designer, singer and performer and broke down barriers in the world of music. She was an Mexican American artist who was traditional yet modern. She brought together both worlds and brought Tejano music to the forefront. Her untimely death splintered her rise in popularity, and as often happens when a glowing, charming singer dies too young, it left many to mourn her unrealized potential. As a result fans are enthused over through the years to dig to work even more to make sure her accomplishments will not be forgotten. The tragic death by shooting of Tejano singer Selena caused a resurgence within the Latino community that can be compared to the reactions to the death of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. A hugely popular Latino artist in North America, Selena's music has influenced many people across different cultures. Selena was a hot glamorous performer on stage that was frequently referred to by her as the Latina Madonna. Off-stage Selena was an excellent role model since she participated actively in antidrug and AIDS campaigns.
